Some demon possessed people even go to church ...or synagogue.

Not all demon (demo) possessed people try to injure or kill themselves. Some even go to church ....or synagogue ....as did the man that Jesus encountered in the synagogue. One of the definitions of 'demon' is a spiritual being ( i.e. a spiritual belief) that influenced a person's character. What spiritual belief did the Jew (who was "possessed by it" ) welcome and embrace? Perhaps it was the belief that comes from the latin root of 'demo', as in demo-crasy,....which proclaims "FREEDOM" of self -rule, self interest, self desires, to serve and magnify oneself. What do some people do when they cannot have what they want to have? Some injure themselves in some way, and some commit suicide. Does not the devil belief in this "FREEDOM" to serve and magnify oneself, even claiming himself to be equal to / higher as 'God'? Is not the devil the ruler of the earth at this time? There were "demon possessed" people in Jesus's time. Imagine how many there are now in this age of mankind which loves and worships "FREEDOM" to define good & evil in its own eyes and has placed this "FREEDOM" above the 1God and His Holy Mountain.

"Surely, you will not die"

People want desperately to believe in the words which the devil said to Eve...
" surely, you will not die".
Even in their "created" understanding of "hell"...people want to believe that they will have eternal existence. Sarcastically speaking...By the way, would this "hell" be so bad since the people ending up there would be, and are, 'children / family' of the devil (as Lord Jesus referred to some in this way)?
Many ignore the fact that eternal existence is a gift from the 1 Creator God for only those that serve His Will and follow His Son Jesus.

Each of the 7 churches worshiped FREEDOM.

Each of the 7 assemblies had a way/belief in common in order to self justify their actions which Lord Jesus condemned and for which He gave command to 'overcome'.

Ephesus: they accepted the way fo the Nicolaitians ( which Jesus hated)

Smyrnea: they accepted the way of the Jews

Pergamos: they accepted teachings of Nicolaitians and worship of Balaam idols

Thyatira: they accepted the religion of Jezebel and idol worship

Sardis: their love for Jesus was dead...replace by love for another way

Philadelphia: accepted the corruption of the Jewish religion (synagogue of satan)

Laodicea: accepted to be religiously self righteous

Each assembly had to justify their actions according to "their will" for their spiritual desires.

Each had to believe in their right to live this way.

Each had to believe that the 'Lord's way is not right'.

Each had to redefine these acts of disobedience as being wise in their own eyes.

Each had to claim the "FREEDOM" of religions for "their religion" .

Each had to embrace "FREEDOM" on their forehead and hand.

To each of the assemblies Lord Jesus said to OVERCOME.

...to overcome "FREEDOM"....

...the way of self will to serve and magnify oneself, the way of the devil.
