Stephen Colbert is just as much a hypocrite as Jeff Sessions in quoting the Bible.
Mr Colbert, Sessions quoted an incomplete part of God's Word, and SO DID YOU in quoting only "...love your neighbor as yourself...love is the fulfillment of the law.". You omitted the 1st part of that command in which Lord Jesus says that " you will love (& obey) the 1 Lord your Creator God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength." BUT America loves "FREEDOM" with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength as their 1st love....they proclaim the righteousness of "FREEDOM" (as a light) to worship any and other gods.
Sessions said..."...to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes,”.
This is partially true...BUT the 1God said to obey the entire law...and not cherry pick or pervert parts of scripture for their self interest, self rights desires.
Does Sessions, Americans, and the "USA Christians" see the USA hypocrisy in using these words????
Did not the American colonialists DISOBEY the laws of the King of England in their rebellion , which they proclaimed to be in the name of "FREEDOM"?
The USA Declaration of Independence & the Constitution is in reality a declaration of DISOBEDIENCE of the law of the government.
And there is another 'law' which they also have arrogantly and self righteously broken....
.....it is written in the same Bible to worship ONLY the 1Lord your Creator God and Him ALONE to serve with love and obedience....
....AND YET....they proclaim the righteousness of "FREEDOM" (as a light) to worship any and other gods.
How can one who rejects ABSOLUTE GOOD and who instead proclaims "FREEDOM" 'my good' 'my will', my rights' 'my religion' 'my sex lifestyle' 'my wealth' 'my happiness' 'my speech' righteously judge another?
