POTUS Trump salutes a NK general????

A military salute to a general of a nation using nuclear threats? 
A military salute is a gesture of respect. 
Why is he respecting the general of an army that is hostile to the USA? 
Perhaps he respects their FREEDOM. 
Perhaps, if he was in their shoes, he would have made the same threats. ...well, he does believe in his FREEDOM to threaten allies. 
Of note...he did say some time ago about the Iran deal that he would have done the same thing as the Iranians. ????
